Got back into the gym today. It’s been a hell of a week. Some good friends of ours lost their 19 year old son in a motorcycle accident this week and I have been thinking a lot about that and we have been trying to help this as much as you can in a situation like that. I just can’t take it. Having kids myself, I cannot imagine losing one. It has really weighed heavy on my mind. I’m trying my best to make sure I stay aware of their needs and help any way I see that I can. So sad.

I do have some seriously positive news for you though! As you can see in the video above, I am able to press a barbell overhead!!! I was talking with my wife earlier today, and we were talking about all of the muscle I’ve lost in my upper body. It really is crazy. I use to have shoulders and pecs, but everything is just skinny and flat. I’ve been trying to do some research to see if there is a risk of permanent damage, but I’m just going to go with…I need to lift and eat and build muscle back.

  • 5  x 5 Overhead Press
  • 5 x 5 Barbell Curls

10 Minute AMRAP

  • 200 Meter Run
  • 10 Kettlebell Swings
  • 20 Sit Ups
  • 30 Squats

I didn’t have a lot of time because I was coaching this morning so I went with a 10 minute AMRAP. I don’t remember how many rounds I got, but the important thing is that I did some overhead presses with 45 lbs!  Progress. Looking forward to the next few months of training and I’m hopeful that I can build some muscle back. Need to get to eating. 🙂
