Do you ever stop to think about the amazing opportunities that are all around us? I’ve been watching the HBO series Deadwood for the last couple of weeks. Could you imagine trying to live in one of those mining towns back then? Imagine trying to open up a business. Even if you were successful, you might randomly die from some unknown disease that the Doctor doesn’t know how to treat.

Today you could start a business or launch a brand in 5 minutes. Start blogging or putting some videos on YouTube and all the sudden you’re running a legitimate business and making money. Maybe you even become famous. Yes, I know it doesn’t usually work that way but the possibility is there. The opportunity is there. You just have to be willing to work at it. You have to be willing to fail and try again over and over and over.

I cringe a lot when I think about the last 10 years. I’ve missed so many great opportunities in life and in business because I wasn’t paying attention or wasn’t willing to follow through for whatever reason. Mostly because I was selfish I think, but that’s a whole other long story. I can see it now, but I was blind to it then. That’s how life works though, we learn and grow. We take our failures and use them to make wins in the future.

I want you to know that if you are down or in a bad spot, you have the opportunity to rise above it and learn from your experience. You may not be able to see it now, but it’s there. Take some time and breathe. Open your eyes and look around you at all the beautiful opportunity. Go to the gym, go for a run, get your head clear. Maybe things aren’t happening for you right now, but you have the opportunity to help someone else. Look around you. Do you see someone that you could help? Maybe your thing isn’t working, but you could help someone else get their thing working. Maybe helping someone else will be the spark you need to make your thing happen. That’s the awesome thing, you never know. Just go!

3-6-9-12-15…

  • Calorie Row
  • Kettlebell Swings (53/35)
  • Wallballs (20/14)

I’ve been hounding a friend of mine to come to the gym for a few days now. He’s going through a tough time and I think training will be super helpful for him. He finally came this morning, so I jumped into the CrossFit class at the gym with him. It was an awesome morning to be sure. I was very happy to see him get back to moving.

I scaled this one way down. I used a 35 lb kettlebell and an 8 pound wallball. My partner and I got through the round of 18 reps plus 6 calories on the rower. I’m going to get my strength work done tomorrow morning before I coach the Saturday class hopefully.

Have a great weekend…

Love,

The Rev
