Hunger is a physiological response.  It is the body’s way of signaling that it needs to be fed. It’s a driver- a tool for motivation.

There is only a small window that opens between being hungry and becoming weak and tired. I think that those who are disciplined enough to balance on the gray line of being nourished and hungry are the ones who get the most out of life.

I am speaking of the hunger of the human spirit, and the hunger that comes from the desire to progress- to succeed.

The spiritual driver which makes me want to get out of bed in the morning and intently move forward towards day, suffers and thrives along with the nourishment that it receives from the environment around it.

To be satiated and full of pride will hinder progress- a diet which consists of only self is far from balanced. To remain hungry, to want for more, to be willing to hunt with others, and the desire to feast with the people around me is the degree of hunger I need in order to remain motivated and function properly.

If my reality is riddled with inaction (talking, dreaming, wishing, instead of working), and fear of moving forward with building the life I want, my hunger will turn to weakness. If I am stagnant for too long, the state of hunger will turn to my being undernourished; I will become tired, weak, unmotivated and dependent. I will sit back, complain about my situation, and expect the world to bring me my nutrition on a silver platter. It won’t be long before I am complacent, bitter, and resentful.

Stay hungry.
