Something we will improve upon

I have a correction from last week. The meditation app that I mentioned is called “Oak” not “Zero.” (You can find both of those here) The zero app is an app that tracks your fasting hours. I tried the Oak meditation app today for the first time and it is awesome! I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s super easy and only takes 10 minutes. This week I’m going to focus on doing that at least once a day along with ROMWOD. I did both of these for the first time this morning and I can already tell that it is going to be a HUGE help on lots of different fronts.

Source of motivation

This week a lot of motivation is coming simply from working on my mindset and perspective. You can really work through a lot of stuff and find some awesome motivation with a positive attitude and a little confidence!

Weekly Training Progress & Goals

Training is going pretty well, I haven’t been to the gym as much this week as I’ve been running and focusing on having the right mindset to progress and move forward to where I want to be. I paced a 10K on Sunday, and we did very well despite the fact that it was pretty much pouring down rain. Our goal was to run about an 11:00 per mile pace, and we finished with an overall pace of 11:08. I’d say that was a success.

Yesterday was 9/11 so I decided on a whim to get up and run 9.11 miles. It felt really great at a 9:27/mile pace. It was nice to get out there and put some miles on the road.

This morning I got up and did the romwod session for the day. It really is crazy how immobile I am. I’ll spare you video of me running, but I cringe when I look at myself move. It’s like my shoulders and hips just don’t want to work. So we’re going to be focusing a lot on that.

Weekly Nutrition Progress & Goals

Alright, look, it’s time to make a change. I weighed in at 199 this morning. I’ve got to stop stuffing my face with bad food. I keep making excuses, but no more. I know what I have to do, and it’s time to do it.

As I write this I’ve had nothing but water and coffee to drink today. For breakfast I had a green juice — Ginger, Kale, Celery, Apple, etc. For lunch I had 3 boiled eggs I made this morning and a banana. I feel great, I don’t need a cheeseburger or a pizza. Everything is fine.

Life obstacle

Here’s what I wrote last week:

Owning the great things that I accomplish. I shrug off a LOT of things that I think really are a big deal, and in a sense I think I’m robbing myself of better experiences. I am going to work on taking time to enjoy and celebrate my victories.

I’m carrying this obstacle/opportunity into this next week as well. This is a really weird one for me as it has carried over into pretty much all aspects of my life. Training, Work, Home, etc. It seems that when you adjust how you feel about yourself and your accomplishments it can really change your life. Who would have thought?

Life victory

I’ve been consistently getting up at 5:30-6am every day except on the weekends and training or doing some sort of fitness routine (i.e. Romwod). I think I’m out of the rut of sleeping until 7am and not doing any training/exercising so I’m happy about that.

Something we are grateful for

I’m grateful for all of the opportunities I have and have had to learn and grow, and I’m very grateful that I’m learning to see those opportunities more and more.

Something we learned from podcast guest

We had a great time on the podcast this week. We had Crystal Landers come sit down with us. I think the biggest takeaway from this podcast is that no matter how bad you think your life is, people can and have come back from worse situations. I mean really. Perspective is something I think we all can work on.

Crystal is a very inspiring human being, and I think I learned from her this week that I should work a little harder to throw a little more encouragement and positivity around.
