Monday was not a very strong day in the gym. Not sure if I’m getting weaker or what…we’ll figure it out.
- Back Squat 1RM; 5×3 @ 85%
- EMOM 8 Minutes – 3 HSPU
Back squat was terrible. Almost failed 275#. It was heavy enough that I knew I wasn’t putting any more weight on the bar. Maybe it was just one of those days. HSPU’s felt great though! Added one rep each minute from last week. Next week I’ll go for 4. All of them were unbroken with no kipping.

I got through 4 rounds + 245M of the row on the 5th round.
Tuesday felt a lot better, but still didn’t have the strength I usually do.
- 1RM Power Clean; 5 x 3 @ 85%
- EMOM 8 Minutes – 4 Pistols
1RM on Power Clean is 220, but I couldn’t get it today. Jumped from 205# to 220#, and missed 220 so did the reps at 175#. Pistols are just not working out. I’m squatting down to some plates, and trying to get lower and lower every day I work these in. Any suggestions out there are welcome. I know there are ankle mobility issues, but I’ve been working pretty hard in that area. All I can do is just keep practicing. One day I won’t need those dumb plates. Here’s what they look like:
- 15 Knees to Elbows
- 15 Box Jumps (24″)
- 15 Squats
Finished this in 9:20, then took a 5 minute rest and finished up with one round of a Tabata Row. It was HOT in the gym this morning, and I was soaking wet. Good heat training I suppose!
