This is the last week of training before race week!  Sylamore 50K is next Saturday.  I am focused on this race probably more than any race in the past.  I’m not sure why, but I think it is probably because I put such a huge PR goal out there.  5 hours and 30 minutes.  I barely pulled off 6:03 last year, so this will be a huge PR.

I started this week off right this morning with a big 5 lb. Back Squat PR:

Back Squat 1RM

Worked up to 320lbs. and felt awesome!  It really felt good to hit that, especially two weeks before a race.  I remember when I couldn’t deadlift 320 a couple of years ago!  Lift Heavy, Run Long!!

Conditioning was tough, but not as long as they have been leading up to this week:

3 Rounds

  • 20 Wallballs (10′ Target/20# ball)
  • 15 Pullups
  • 20 Burpees

Finished in 9:34.  I’m happy with that considering I did “Chelsea” at home yesterday.  I was supposed to do it Saturday, but didn’t get around to it.  So I was just a bit slow on pullups and burpees since I was a little sore.  Still not bad though.

Now to focus on nutrition and the rest of this weeks training.
