Mood/Reflections: Very relaxed today. Recovery is a good word. I’ve been coaching a kids class at Olive Branch CrossFit three days a week for the last 5 weeks. Today was the last class. I had 5 boys including my Son. It was a lot of fun to watch them learn to move and see the impact the training had on them. If you’re a coach and want to learn something about movement, find yourself 5 or 6 twelve year old boys and teach them how to squat and deadlift. It’s a learning experience for sure.

Training: I wouldn’t call this a rest day, maybe you’d say it was “active recovery.” I went for a 1 mile walk with my wife which was a lot of fun. I did not do ROMWOD today, but intend to pick it back up in the morning.  I’m coaching early (5 and 6 am) classes at the gym for the next two days so I’ll likely try to get it in before those early classes. I did get in the pool today and move around a lot which I think was super helpful. I may be spending a little more time swimming in the pool during recovery. A suggestion from a friend of mine. I’m going to be dialing down the use of my arms. My shoulders are very weak and sore. I just don’t have a lot of strength in them and they get very tired very fast. I was hoping to add more workouts like I did yesterday, but my shoulders are pretty sore from yesterday. I think it was trying to do the bear crawls that got to me. I’m going to dial it back and just stick to ROMWOD and jogging this week I think.

Here’s to a brand new week. Enjoy it. Take advantage of it. Do something new and do something great.
