“The caterpillar didn’t enter the cocoon to become a better caterpillar.”
— Rev. Tim Carpenter
Our preacher said this at church on Sunday. I don’t know much about transformation but from what I understand, it’s seldom comfortable, takes time, and often involves slowing down before speeding up.
I have heard the quote about the caterpillar and the cocoon as it pertains to my people and my journey. They say:
What do you get when you sober up a horse thief?
Well, you got a sober horse thief.
Change has never gotten me very far for very long. I need to set my sights on things a little more dramatic.
I guess if I am not getting into a cocoon or getting out of one, I should better start looking for a safe place to start spinning.
Transformation is the goal.
