lhrltrainingOur kids were sick this weekend so I missed my 20 Mile run on Saturday.  I could have gone and done it, but I would have felt like a huge tool leaving my wife for several hours after dealing with puking kids all night.  So I skipped it.  I figured I’d make it up sometime this week.  I went into today thinking that I might miss another day of training.  I had a meeting across town, and I figured between that and coaching all morning that getting a training session in would be difficult.  Well, my meeting got cancelled and I actually ended up getting a ton of work done today!  Win for me!! I had a great training session.  My friend Mike McGoldrick was at the gym hitting the assault bike, and beyond Front Squats I really didn’t know what I was going to do.  He offered up this little suggestion:

 

 

For time:

  • Row 250 Meters
  • 15 Kettlebell Swings (2 Pood)
  • 10 Burpees
  • Row 500 Meters
  • 15 Kettlebell Swings (2 Pood)
  • 10 Burpees
  • Row 250 Meters

That was awesome!  I finished in 8:18.  I wish I could pay Mike just to stand in the room every time I trained.  There’s something to having a CrossFit Games level athlete present that makes you not slack and push yourself harder.  My favorite line from today:  “Keep moving Von, it just hurts, get through it.” Thanks, Mike.

I’m really excited about the upcoming race.  I’m going to put some extra mileage in this weekend to make up for missing the 20, and I know I will be ok.  Honestly, I feel as if I’m in better shape than I have ever been.  I feel strong and I feel like I could run all day.  Good thing, because I will in a couple weeks. 🙂
